Would you like to set automated goodwill gestures on products (memberships, bolt-ons, packages, shop products, etc)? This type of goodwill gesture can be configured from the sales in the back-office or online, from the online shop or the online joining. This article explains how to do it...
STEP 1 - ADD AN AUTOMATED GOODWILL GESTURE
From Settings > General > Goodwill gesture > Automated goodwill gestures, select +Add a goodwill gesture.
STEP 2 - FILL IN THE GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE GOODWILL GESTURE
Fill in the fields related to the full automated goodwill gesture as follows:
- Name (required)
- Description: information about the goodwill gesture in the sales funnel
- Description in Member Area: description in the online shop/joining
- Reason (required): the same list as the one used in the 'goodwill gesture' part
- Subject (required): idem
- Note: to add a note on the member file, in the Goodwill gesture tab after applying the goodwill gesture
It will also be possible to define limits for each product type. This is covered in step 5 of this article.
STEP 3 - DEFINE THE DISCOUNT CRITERIA
Then go to 'Discount'.
- The checkbox that appears first allows you to restrict the display of the goodwill gesture to club members.
- From the three dots, more display restrictions are available.
In the criteria for displaying the goodwill gesture, there are several options:
- Restrict by keywords: you set the keywords that give access to the discount.
- Restrict by date: the period of availability of the goodwill gesture.
- Restrict by sales channel: the goodwill gesture is made available in clubs and/or online.
- Restrict by club: define the clubs in the network where the goodwill gesture is available
- Restrict the discount to the club to which the member belongs: added by default, the goodwill gesture is designated as reserved for members
- Restrict according to client status
STEP 4 - DEFINE THE PRODUCTS TO WHICH THE GESTURE APPLIES
From the "Actions" section, add the discounts corresponding to the goodwill gesture:
- Membership
- Bolt-on
- Package
- Entry pass
- Shop
STEP 5 - FOR EACH PRODUCT, INDICATE THE DISCOUNT CALCULATION
Here, we've chosen a goodwill gesture that automates the 50% discount on the first three instalments of a membership.
For direct debit memberships and bolt-ons, you can define whether the discount applies...
- on admin fees
- on the prorated amount paid at the time of sale
- on the amount of the first instalments
Special case - A discount on the first month paid on sale from date to date.
The discount on this type of amount will be considered as a "first instalment" amount.
For the rest of the products, we can define the discount that applies...
- on admin fees
- on product (amount paid on sale excluding admin fees)
Useful information
The discount calculation can be managed in different ways using the drop-down lists on the screen:
A few cases to bear in mind
- Special offer and goodwill gesture
Only the goodwill gesture is applied. Not both. Even if the special period is longer.
- Prorata reduction amount > Initial prorata amount
The pro rata is simply £0.
- Prorata reduction amount and administration fees > Initial prorata amount and administration fees
The initial amount is retained without applying the goodwill gesture.
- Reduction amount of a due date > amount of a due date
Error message, nothing can be done.
- Amount of prorata reduction and administrative fees > Initial amount of prorata and administrative fees AND Amount of due date reduction > Initial amount of due date
We keep the initial amount for the pro rata and administrative fees AND we apply the goodwill gesture for the instalments.
STEP 6 - SAVE, THE GESTURE IS THE GESTURE IS VISIBLE ON THE CHANNELS YOU HAVE INDICATED
It is possible to define criteria for applying the goodwill gesture, specific to the type of product discounted this time (membership, bolt-on, package, etc.).
These criteria can be accessed using the three dots.
On a membership, you can restrict by...
- Keyword (e.g. you need the keyword "abo" to benefit from the offer).
- Keyword restrictions (e.g. you don't need the keyword "abo" to benefit from the offer).
- Length of service (if you choose "fixed" it will only be accessible to people with fixed-term memberships, if you choose "unlimited" it will only be accessible to people with permanent memberships).
On a membership bolt-on, only the keyword holding and keyword limitation restrictions exist.
On an entry pass, the shop or a package, only the keyword holding restriction exists.
STEP 7 - THE GESTURE IS THE GESTURE IS VISIBLE ON THE INDICATED CHANNELS
- From sales in the back-office
If an automatic shop discount is available, attention will be drawn to the possibility of making a goodwill gesture in the sales funnel.
When you click on the goodwill gesture, you can add an automated discount (the one we configured beforehand, for example) or add a manual discount:
Once added, the discount is applied and you can go to the usual payment selection screen or continue adding products to the basket.
Do you need a manual discount ?
Even if the automatic discounts are configured, you can still make a manual discount as shown above.
- From Online Joining or the Online shop
On the online shop, the member can access the discount where the product is selected and can click on 'I take advantage of it!' to apply the automated goodwill gesture.
Then the member finds out the detailed goodwill gesture and can submit it:
To highlight the goodwill gesture a little more...
Wish to make the goodwill gesture more visible ? Please inform Xplor Gym Support and they can activate the appropriate option. And the information related to the available goodwill gesture will pop-up more clearly:
When the member chooses the discounted product, the discount is applied and specified when added to the cart:
